Gold Coast Desalination - Driveability studies PDF Print E-mail

John Holland Constructions is the construction partner of the Gold Coast Desalination Alliance, which is building a 55ML/day desalination facility at Tugun on the Gold Coast, in Queensland’s South-East.

The offshore Inlet and Outlet structures for the plant will require driving of steel tube piles exceeding 3m in diameter through the seabed and into the underlying weathered and metamorphosed sedimentary rocks.

Foundation QA has been engaged to provide advice on

    • the driveability of these large steel tubes
    • the likely driving distance
    • the need for internal excavation and rock drillability
    • hammer selection
